The Meijer State Games of Michigan is in need of volunteer hockey coaches for the 2019 tournament. The tournament will take place June 19-23 with June 19 being used for check-in and practice. Interested coaches can contact Mitch Laflamme at

Teams will be formed according to MAHA"s seven existing regions. One at large team tryout will be held once the seven region teams have been formed. An independent evaluation team will host tryouts and raft players to teams. Teams will then be assigned a coach.

Coaches will receive:

  • Polo Shirt

  • 1/4 zip jacket or fleece

  • Hat

  • Invite to VIP Reception at Opening Ceremony (June 21 at Fifth Third Ballpark).

  • Access to participant information for collegiate hockey program marketing

  • Head coaches will be provided with one comp room if attending from over 100 miles away. Additional considerations will be reviewed by the SGOM hockey committee on a case-by-case basis.

The boys high school division teams will be coached by ACHA coaches. Teams that have committed coaches are Grand Valley State University (Two coaches - D2 team), Davenport University (Two coaches - D2 team), Calvin College (Two coaches - D1 and D3 teams), Ferris State University (one coach) and Lawrence Tech (One coach).
