Honoring Our Veterans

As part of the Meijer State Games of Michigan Marquette Winter Games, we are teaming up with local and national organizations to empower veterans through sports officiating! Veterans possess the skills needed to be great officials, provides community, and an additional income stream. The community benefits as well with more officials available to keep youth and amateur sports alive and assisting the officiating shortage problem,

In conjunction with Protect the Game, we would like to send one Michigan veteran who has interest in umping baseball/softball to a training session in Colorado Springs, Colorado February 19-21, 2026. Flights, hotel, and registration will be covered. If interested, please email Julie at jcullen@stategamesofmichigan.com by February 2, 2026 with why you would like to go, any past umping experience, service information, and local airport.

Additionally, there will be a veterans officiating lunch and learn taking place in Marquette in March. Please check back in for more details!
