Event Overview:
The 2012 Meijer State Games of Michigan 14 & Under Ice Hockey event will be an eight team showcase. Eligible youth hockey players from all over the state of Michigan will try-out to represent their region of Michigan at the 3rd Annual Meijer State Games of Michigan.
The youth hockey tournament committee for the 2012 Meijer State Games of Michigan is committed to offering hockey players, parents, coaches and spectators an exciting Olympic-style event that will be remembered for a life time.
Eligible Players & Teams:
The youth ice hockey event will be a 14U Tournament - open to players with a 1998 birth year or younger. All players in Michigan who were MAHA registered on a C, B, A, or AA team during the 2011-2012 season are eligible to tryout for the team that will represent their geographical area. Anyone who played AAA during the 2011-12 winter season in NOT eligible to try out for this tournament.
Eight teams, one from each MAHA district, plus one "at-large" will come together at the Meijer State Games of Michigan to compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Players are encouraged to look for tryout information in their local arena and from their coaches/managers. Information regarding commited coaches and tryouts will be updated on a continual basis, so please check all tabs above for more information.
Unlike the normal "travel tryout" process, where interested skaters are able to ‘walk up’ and pay to register for the tryout, the West Michigan Sports Commission is not permitting a cash payment on site. So, if there are players that are considering their participation, it is critical that they register through this website and ensure that we can accept their payment to participate in the tryout. There will NOT be registration options available at the tryout site.
Tournament Cost per Player Information:
The individual player fee will be determined as we get closer to the tournament date. We continue to work with and wait on various sponsors and will adjust the cost as sponsorships become available. Regardless, we are committed to keeping costs low so that everyone has a chance to play. Registration fee covers the cost of their jersey, socks, and practice ice, etc. as they prepare for the tournament.
