1. Division: This scratch tournament will be certified by the United State Bowling Congress “USBC” and will be governed by the rules of the Michigan Games and USBA. Tournament average divisions are listed on the homepage.
*Youth is age 21 and under as of 8/1/2010
*Adult is open to all ages
*Senior is at least age 60 as of 8/1/2010
2. Entrants: All Michigan residents, college students and military personnel who have lived in the state of Michigan for at least 30 days prior to the day of competition and meet the specific requirements for their sport of interest may compete. Michigan residents attending college of serving in the military in another state are also eligible to compete. Participants in developing individual sports residing close to a neighboring state line may be eligible to compete. The Meijer State Games of Michigan reserves the right to restrict individuals from competing in the Games for the best interest of the event.
3. Membership: All entrants must be members of a local association, the MSUSBCBA, MSUSBCWBA, MSUSBC Youth and USBC. Entrants must present a current Michigan USBC membership card when checking in. An associate membership card may be purchased at the tournament site for those that do not have proof of membership. The cost is $21.00.
4. Ineligible Bowlers: An individual in any of the following categories is not considered to be an amateur and is not eligible for this tournament.
- No PBA, PWBT or GBT members of any classification for the last three years (’09, ’10, ’11)
- A bowler who is subsided by a bowling sponsor, or manufacturer or any other agency so that he/she may devote his/her primary attention to the practice or participation in bowling.
- A bowler who devotes half or more of his/her working time as a paid bowling instructor.
- A bowler who earns a major portion of his/her income as an exhibition bowler
5. Averages: Entrants will use their highest certified league average of 21 games or more as established for the 2010-11 association yearbook. If no 2010-11 winter average, the current average at the time of bowling with a minimum of 21 games will be used. A certified summer average of 21 or more games may be used if there is not winter average. Out of state and summer league averages must be verified prior to bowling. If a bowler has no verified average, the following assigned average will be used: youth 8 and under – 100, youth 9 to 14 – 140, adult males – 170, and adult females – 160.
6. Average Changes: It shall be each bowler’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of his or her average and classification. Tournament Management will attempt to verify all entering averages prior to the start of the tournament. However, if it is found after participation that an individual has an average higher than that listed in the tournament, their scores shall be subject to disqualification. Average corrections may be made prior to the competition of the first game.
7. Late Bowlers: Bowlers arriving late will begin in the frame the bowlers are currently in. All previous frames will be scored with zero pin count.
8. Check-in: Bowlers should check in (1) one hour prior to their schedules time of competition.
9. Medals: Will be awarded at the end of each squad – 1st: Gold, 2nd: Silver, 3rd: Bronze. Champions will earn the opportunity to represent their State at the State Games of America.
10. Refunds: Once an entry has been received, the schedule date assigned and confirmation has been mailed to the participants and the complete schedule has been finalized, entry fees will not be refunded.
11. Disputes: Any disputes during the tournament or exceptions to the above rules and regulations will be resolved at the discretion of the tournament manager and/or the tournament committee.
12. Dress Code: The Meijer State Games of Michigan request that all bowlers wear suitable attire when participating in the Tournament: Slacks or walking shorts to the knee and bowling shirts preferred
Unsuitable Attire: Tank tops, workout attire (spandex, sweatpants), short shorts, skirts, bib overalls, torn or unclean jeans, shirts or t-shirts with offensive language/pictures and headgear.
Violations: Entrants will be required to change to suitable attire. Entrants who refuse to wear suitable attire will not be allowed to bowl. Tournament management reserves the right to refuse participation to anyone deemed to be inappropriately attired without recourse. Attire needed for medical reasons should be discussed with Tournament Management before the Tournament.
13. Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Tournament Management has the discretion to disqualify any participants for unsportsmanlike conduct or unruly behavior (physical or verbal abuse of equipment or other participants or for intoxication). See USBC Rule 303.
14. USBC Rule Book: Any rules not covered in the above stated rules would be covered by the USBC rules as found in the USBC Rule Book.
