State Games of Michigan gives Mayer family chance to participate in Olympic-style festival

The inaugural Meijer State Games of Michigan isn’t just a playground for elite athletes.

It’s also a perfect place for regular folks like John Mayer and his boys.

Mayer, 45, a Sprint service and repair manager from Portage, and sons Max, 9, and Sam, 6, represent what the spirit of competition is all about with their participation in the Olympic-style sports festival.
