Macatawa's Bob Miller Chosen as 2011 Male Athlete of the Year

Holland — Bob Miller of Macatawa impressed many with his six gold-medal performance at the Meijer State Games of Michigan last summer.

The 67-year-old swimmer landed another prize as he was named the games’ 2011 Male Athlete of the Year.

“I was proud to be involved,” Miller said. “I had no idea I would be athlete of the year.”

Miller was honored Tuesday during a ceremony at the state capital along with Female Athlete of Year Jessica LeMire of Grand Rapids and Youth Athlete of the Year Chandler Simmering of Portage.
