2011 Athletes of the Year Announced!

Congratulations to the following athletes who were chosen as the 2011 athletes of the year:

Male Athlete of the Year: Bob Miller- Swimming

Female Athlete of the Year: Jessica LeMire- Racquetball

Youth Athlete of the Year: Chandler Simmering- Judo

Each year after the closing of the Meijer State Games of Michigan, a male and a female and youth athlete will be selected as the Athlete of the Year. Coaches, Parents, Spectators as well as athletes will have the chance throughout the games to submit their nomination of who they think deserves this award.

Male, Female & Youth

The NCSG Athlete of the Year Program recognizes outstanding athletes from Meijer State Games nationwide.  Athletes of the Year are chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Participation in the Meijer State Games and medals won
  • Sportsmanship
  • Attitude and effort
  • Overall athletic participation and achievement
  • Athlete’s motivation/reason for being involved in sports
  • Special attributes or circumstances within the sport/community
  • Why the athlete represents the spirit of amateur athletics and the State Games movement.
